The "most powerful gaming mouse" with internal flash memory for makros... just record your hammer jump sequence in the driver program, cut the sequence and save it into the mouse memory =)

Would be my choise N° 1 =)

I now have the Logitech G9.
Seems pretty cool!
However, I have to adapt to it...
It was perfect in Windows^^
But when I was in UT3, it was a completely different feeling  :-\

This one is optical before that i played ut2003 with a mouse with a ball under and that worked too but u had to clean it now and then.

wasd movement
e for best weapon
q for translocator or hoverboard
ctrl for vehicles entering
space for jump

i use to have f bound to the sound "Boom headshot YEAH!" back in ut200x when there were sounds on the servers :P

my keyboard is nothing flashy either its also a 5 year old logitech but i recently bought a new monitor but i still ahve my old crt here that i use for msn and teamspeak :P

Always make backups twice if its about important data... but I guess movies or series, even if unseen, are not that big loss. Maybe only the Case power supply has gone? Can you take the hdd out of it and check if your PC recognizes it?

I got 4GB ram today and they work as hell:
CLatency 4-4-4-12
840 MHz
Read/Write/Copy all beyond 8GB/second!
reaction time 58ns

My old ram were pretty overclocked (stil slow  embarrassed2) 2GB G.E.I.L.
Latency 5-5-5-18
Read/Write/Copy below 6GB
reaction time 86ns

I will love to work with them (even if I wouldn't need them for UT3 ^^)
Those above are my low latency rigs, below is K_G_'s dominator, wonder about its performance... has higher latency but  ~300MHz higher frequency than mine... we will see who will frag more   wink2.gif)

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (3.24 x 4)
p5k motherboard
ati radeon hd 4850
Zalman CPNS9700led CPU cooler ^^
4 GB of Corsair dominator PC 8500 DDR2 :D
450 gig HD

and some shit monitor 17 inch and shit mouse and shit keyboard.
how can i check the preformance of the ram vegas?

Title: Re: Hardware
Post by: K_G_ on Wed 04.02.2009 00:35:57
clatency = 5-5-5-15
reaction time is 70.5
and the first test gave 7050 reading
second 2721 writing
and the third one was the reaction time i think?:P

Title: Re: Hardware
Post by: VegasKill on Wed 04.02.2009 02:07:37
1st row is about memory: read/write/copy and latency, pretty self explanatory.
If you got just 2721MB in writing you may take a look in the BIOS.

Shake that thing =)

PowerColor Radeon HD 4850 PCS+ (512MB GDDR3) is pretty awesome at the time: its a slightly pre-overclocked 4850 with a silent fan (the original one is said to be horrible). Cost: ~150€

If you want to get some more performance you can look for the XpertVision Radeon HD 4870 Sonic, 1024MB GDDR5. It consumes relatively less power with the new 55nm core and has an inbuilt 7.1 Audiocard (so you can record gamesound while being in teamspeak, as you asked once ^^). It costs ~220€.

The 280GTX 285 or even 295 from Nvidia will cost you more than you wanted to spend...

Yeah, Sova, don't miss this blade to kill ur enemies! Buy a gfx instead of this tablet gfx input.

Hey Vegas and others! If u use 4 GB RAM under Win XP, u have to fix this problem: The OS gives only 2 GB max 4 a program and u have to patch the boot.ini 4 more power!

"The virtual address space of processes and applications is still limited to 2 GB, unless the /3GB switch is used in the Boot.ini file. The following example shows how to add the /3GB parameter in the Boot.ini file to enable application memory tuning:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="????" /3GB"

Link: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEmem.mspx (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEmem.mspx)

Hmm, my 2 1GB-rigs are so lonely.  xxxshifty.gif And I can buy another pair for 30€... Or take OC-Rigs? What do u mean?

Cool mouse... did you modify your buttons in the drivers? ...try to restart your pc *^^

"The virtual address space of processes and applications is still limited to 2 GB, unless the /3GB switch is used in the Boot.ini file."

I know my XP 32 recognizes only 3.3GB, but I will try the boot.ini fix to adress 3 GB to one exe. Thx FoxXx!

Title: Re: Hardware
Post by: VegasKill on Wed 04.02.2009 18:36:00
The roccat stores all the macros and button configurations in a mouseinternal flash memory. What you save on it once will work until you modify it again, even on other PCs. But if the wheel worked once, most probably it isn't defect, but the mouse is not configured to scroll.

Its wireless and only 1ms delay time, but u can also use a cable. Same buttons like my DeathAdder. Hmm, have to wait 4 lesser price, 130€ is too expensive!  ::)

And if u have to much money, u take a KillerNIC-Network-Card. Costs: Only 150 till 200 Euro! wink2.gif And u can load torrent even if ur PC isn't working! Some Features: Has 64MB RAM, own linux firewall, game priorisation and (in the 200€-version) a heat sink like a big K.  xxxlaugh.gif

I dont like razer mouses. Their ergonomic sucks big time!

Hand torture!

Title: Re: Hardware
Post by: Nightmare85 on Mon 23.02.2009 00:58:23
Indeed.
They are optimized for left- and right-handers.
The disadvantage is they are not as good as right-hander or left-hander only mouses.
When I was in Leipzig (Games Convention) I played a game called Aion with a Razer mouse.
It was ok, I couldn't complain.

However, sometimes it depends on the games.
When I had my Logitech G5, I had problems with some games.
I just couldn't play well with this mouse, but in UT3 it was fine.
Currently, I have the G9 and I think it's fully compatible with all my games^^

There is a new mouse in Europe stores since the beginning of 2009, the Gigabyte "GM-M8000".
It is the °2 in the gaming mouse ranking (Kone °1).

Drivers are AWESOME, like Kone, and ergonomics are even better than Kone's.
The only negative point in a review were the click sounds.
Price ~ 49€.

Test (on ComputerBase - German, but there are also pics): http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/hardware/peripherie/2009/test_gigabyte_gm-m8000_gaming-laser-maus (http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/hardware/peripherie/2009/test_gigabyte_gm-m8000_gaming-laser-maus)

I'm sceptical! It looks like a standard copy, not like the roccat kone. And btw: Why the most gamer mouses haves the thumb buttons over the normal position of my thumb?  ::) And one point: Why they don't build a mouse with two buttons 4 the forefinger?  :)

Today I receive my RAM and will build it in this evening. I was afraid, that this guy could be a betrayer, cuz it tooks so long and his account on ebay was erased.  shit001.gif But today I got it. Puuuh!  8)

That is a really nice pick mafia. If moniez are no problem take the i940 instead of that i920. Or you can buy some fancy cooling solution instead and try your luck with overclocking that beast. the core i7 is the top line so you can hardly pick a better processor line atm.

yeah i could get the i940, but then i have to buy the motherboard and ram seperate and i HAVE to buy a new motherboard for core i7 because of the new socket and DDR3 and then its more expensive  wasted2

and the motherboard on the pic is wrong i think  xxxlaugh.gif

It works great! I've seen it in my market, but there is one disadvantage: The Shutter Glasses has a 60Hz frequency and if you've lightly areas in our side, you'll see this flickering in the corner of the eye. It mades headaches... But awesome 3D effect! O_O

In a few days I'll update my rig.  msn011.gif I already bought the gtx 275 a month or so ago, and now I'm buying a new cpu, mobo and memory. My old a64 x2 5000+ is really slowing ut3 down, I have like 20fps in warfare. UT3 is such a cpu hog.  xxxras.gif But with new hw I'll be unstoppable.  finger1

These are the parts I'm going to buy:

ASUS AM3 M4A785TD-M EVO    88.70EUR
AMD PHENOM II X4 955 BLACK EDITION AM2+/AM3 BOXED    149.90EUR
G.SKILL 4GB DDR3-1600 KIT Ripjaws 9-9-9-24     99.00EUR

DDR3 RAM has really gotten expensive.  msn006.gif During the spring it was like 60€ here, now 100€. The same is for DDR2. I bough 4GB of DDR2 in august for 45€, now they cost 80€. Good thing I could sell those used for the same price I bought them.  whistle2

I look for the Medusa NX but my favorite is the Roccat Kave. Heavy but solid, cable remote, real 5.1 sound, black'n'blue...

Whats your choice?
The Roccat headset is too heavy and has sound problems on the left side, due to the audio controls on that side.

The medusa has no mute controls for the microphone, but is not bad besides that.

My recommendations are the Sennheiser PC 151 for an open speaker or the Logitech G35 if you prefer it surrounding, without no background sounds. 5.1 is useless however, since openAl hardware acceleration doesn't work properly in UT3 and probably everyone plays UT3 with generic stereo.

Sennheiser PC 151 -  ~40€

Logitech G35 -  ~80€

You should check the list from the homepage www.gamersware.com (http://www.gamersware.com). There you should look which are good, but buy them somewhere else because they are pretty expensive there.

Ditch the 5.1 it's hype nothing more. Go for Sennheiser or Koss. Both companies have decades of experience in headphones manufacturing so you can't make a bad choice. I have Koss sb45 but the PC151 are a good choice as well.

Also using koss sb45. A decent headset for low price. I'm not that into hifi to pay hundreds of euros for something a tad better.

Thx for your advices, I have checked your favorites and my first result are:

Sennheiser PC350 and Logitech G35: Awesome but too expensive (would rather buy Beyerdynamics MX300  8))

Sennheiser PC151/161: The ear cushion is too small for me. I prefer bigger one. It's a pity, bc they have the best microphone ever as I read in some tests. But I notice too, that they haven't enough bass line.  smiley464.png

The Medusa has obviously many quality problems. Thats sucks bc it was my favourite after the Roccat Kave.

Koss SB45 looks great and it's exellent value for money. Its my insider tip atm.

I'm able to get some brands with discount in "my" market. Could buy the Medusa as Stereo for 20€. Or the Kave for 75€ (if it sucks - warranty!). Wherefrom are your informations about the technical problems, Vegas?

It's not true.

Im using a Creative X-Fi Gamer soundcard and a Sennheiser PC151 headset with openai enabled. It's works perfectly, ok, sometimes i hear strange "scratching" sounds but it doesn't disturb me.

Alternate.de user comments.

It's works perfectly, ok, sometimes i hear strange "scratching" sounds but it doesn't disturb me.
OpenAL hardware acceleration doesn't crash ut3 anymore since the audio dll files were patched with the titan pack to don't use the audio chip's ram anymore. But why should that be left unused? xD
Now, to use openAL, fucks up some sounds from the spectrum that are available with the generic software settings. (if multiple sound actor classes are played simultaneously or whatever)

The spoken annotations as at the beginning of missions interrupt after some time, the sounds of vehicle actions cause errors, weapons fired at the same time create your 'scratching',.... that's what I've noticed and left me looking  -.-

There is actually a fraud video on youtube that promotes a 30$, extremely superfluous openAL enhancer.
The videos doesn't compare the audio enhancer product with the generic openAL hardware acceleration, but plain software. Just think of the 3d sound effects as the openAL hardware acceleration from the ut3 audio menu was ticked. ...try to activate openAL, but note that it works as if... kinda Epic programmed it.

I also know one Finnish tech forum he frequents with the same name.   msn011.gif
Oh and as far as I know he's not a HC overclocker, just another enthusiast like me.  afrodd.gif

I never quite understood extreme overclocking, but I guess there's worse ways to spend money.

:) It's always good to squeeze some extra performance out of your components, but you're right with that eXtreme overclocking, it's more for the bragging rights than for normal day to day usage.
