Hmm but if you release the Redeemer near the Shield, the vehicles and enemies (which are in the Shield) will get destroyed, too, because the damage radius is big.

That was my story with UT3:
When I got it, I played the campaign (I liked it).
Then I played online, but only DeathMatch.
After an average knowledge I played V-CTF and Warfare.
(I hate CTF).

I think some people are too lazy to play the game offline to learn some things.
They think "It's an online game so I only play online!"
And that are these guys that take the jump boots to camp in their base or that take the fury to fly (alone) to the enemy base and get the flag.

It is too complicate to help these people because it costs time and nerves.
Just ignore them (if they ask a lot of really stupid things).
Say: "There are forums for your questions".

Well, everyone was a noob^^
I think the players become more and more stronger and the problems will maybe not be that long.
Sure always new players/noobs join.
They have no idea so they can't imagine how important some things are.
(Jump Boots, Furies etc.)

Today I had the flag on Sandstorm and a player flew me with our Fury.
He was so damn slow (I guess he did not know that there is a boost).
But well, that makes a game to a game.
It will always be a mix of good and not so good players (I guess).

Maybe they are not that bad... we are just too good! :D Wink

P.S: The other side: When noobs/new players join the game, then I think "this game does not die, fine^^"

The tank is strong, yes.
However, if you shoot some metres away (what would mean the damage should be little), you still deal damage to the enemy which is in the Energy Shield.
The Paladin is strong, too.
Its direct shots, which are definitely stronger that the indirect shots of the Goliath, don't deal any damage.
So I think the problem is the Energy Shield that cannot block any splash damage (no matter if much or little).

I'll write it in Epic's Forum, too, because it seems that the thread is slowly dying :( :(

Hi!

As promised the version 1.4 is online now.
The change log:

added bugs:
- 40. Nightshade can float
- 41. Hellbender's physics are bad
- 42. Cicada can lose its locked target while moving
- 43. Total Conversions crash if specific parameters are used
- 44. Deployable Energy Shield does not completely block splash damage
- 45. Unneeded lines in the weapon priority list
- 46. Flag scorer is not visible for others
- 47. Redeemer ceiling bug
- 48. Picking up weapon attachments while shooting gives an unfair advantage
- 49. Vehicles do not always change their skin properly when destroyed

changed bugs:
- 1: only an optical change
- 5: more details
- 19: more details and screenshots
- 21: optical change
- 31: changed title
- 33: more text

and of course updated credits.

Version 1.5 will come more quickly than 1.4 because I wanted to include somethings but I did not get it (little time).
I will include as well some bugs that you mentioned.
You can remember me if I forgot something important.

To my weapon list problem:
I will try to set the default order.

To your key 1 and 2 problem:
So it now still does not work for you to switch the seats in vehicles by pressing 1 and 2?
Hmm I think 1 and 2 have to be "switchWeapon 1 and 2".

To your crosshair problem:
Did you open the UTWeapon.ini?
Maybe there is a possibility.
At least I see
CrosshairColor=(R=255,G=255,B=255,A=255)

BTW:
Maybe I have the weapon list problem because I deleted the UTWeapon.ini and my list is saved online.
So there could be a conflict.
I will analyze it today.

Yes, I always view the scoreboard to see who is carrying the flag.
The problem is that even a look in the console does not show who scored.

The first one is just the weapon priority list in settings -> weapons.
It was okay some versions ago, but now there are unneeded and wrong lines.

Can you confirm 2 things, please?
The first is this:

The second is that I never see the name of the flag scorer.
For example Wojci has the flag.
I read it if he takes/drops or returns the (enemy) flag.
I never can read if he scores.
I only can see my name if I score.
"Nightmare85 scores for blue/red".
It is even not possible for me to read it in the console if another player scores.

Hi,

Some guys and me are currently discussing about the netcode problems of UT3.
The thread was exceptionally not created by me :D

I think there are some serious differences between online and offline playing.
I found 5 by now:
(Screenshots can be enlarged of course)


1) Impact Hammer Jump takes 50 hp instead of 25 hp.

I tried it on many online servers - always the same! It costs 50 hp.


Offline it costs only 25 hp under the same conditions (full hammer power).

Vegas told me it only happens on Linux servers, but I hardly believe it because I experience that really on any server.
That would mean every server was on Linux but I doubt it a little bit...
(Even official Epic servers have this problem.)


2) Jump pads work online differently than offline.

Offline:
You can just walk on them and when you are on a high position, you can make a jump.
If you have jump boots, you can get higher.

Online:
If you just walk on the jump pad, the 2nd jump won't be possible.
You have to jump on it.




3) No shooting at enemies possible, if the ping is a little bit high.

Well, there seems to be no (or a bad) lag compensation.
That means you always have to think where the enemy could be after x ms.


4) Shots sometimes don't come out.

During some fights your shots simply don't come out.
Sometimes there is a big delay when you want to shoot.
I often experience this with the Avril.
I have to wait a long time until it gets reloaded.


5) Delays during weapon switches.


Happens often, too.
You shoot, stop shooting and wants to switch your weapon.
Can take a long time, too.
I'm relative sure it's not a problem in offline mode.

I hope you will like the changes:

- added bugs:
31. Joining as spectator and then become active causes standard colors instead of team colors
32. Nightshade sometimes shows wrong mines in its weapon tab
33. Link Gun primary fire does not exactly match the crosshair
34. Wrong ping information before the round starts
35. Player can get invisible if he feigns death on some objects
36. Hoverboard is not a real vehicle but has properties of a real vehicle
37. Hoverboard dodge does not work if you dodge before
38. The player model's hands do not touch the handlebars in vehicles or turrets
39. Nightshade can forward its attachments to other vehicles

- changed bugs:
#2, #12, #25, #17

- added an overview
- changed size and names of screenshots (better for me)
- updated credits

Your're right.
I often had this problem when I hijacked a nightshade.
Maybe a "new/unused" nightshade doesn't have these problems... no idea.

Hmm would be too complex for me...
I now have uploaded the screenshots the 3rd time.
(1st normal screenshots, 2nd thumbnails that do not work because of the forum and now all screenshots again but smaller).
So I don't have more passion, sorry.

P.S. If the forum admins would change the max 9 [img]-limit, I would finally change it, because it is the best solution in my opinion.

I'm working on the thread and I will reduce all screenshots from
1680x1050 80 to 1440x900 60 (JPG quality).
That means the complete MB size will be 22 MB, not 45 MB.

The Super Moderator and Forum Contact support did not help me so there is no other solution for me...

Edit: Should be done after some minutes...
