The right speaker of my no name headset is broken, the remaining sound is very thin and hollow.
I'm not versed in headset brands, do you have some recommendation for me?

I need an inbuilt mic, a closed layout and the speaker sound quality is the most important criteria, since I use the headset a lot to listen to music.

What do you think about the 'SteelSeries Siberia v2'? With "10 Hz -28 kHz" it has one of the widest sound spectra among the headsets listed on alternate: http://www.alternate.de/html/solrSearch/toArticle.html?articleId=151505

don't know much about this,  but i heard the Senheisser headsets are the best in sound quality as they were intended to play music first, then they made a series for gaming.

Sound specs look similar to the Siberia ones, but Sennheiser makes a better impression.

It has 3.5mm connectors, so it can be hooked up together with keyboard & mouse to several computers. ...guess that means +3 afrodd.gif

Geart topic Vegas!!  Smiley - I would've started the same some days later cause my hs is at one's deathbed so I need a new 1 2   Cool
Guess the Siberia is a nice choice but a would rather prefer sennheiser as I made positive experiences with the marke. It's just the high price...(and for u no inbuilt mic)
Otherwise the smaller Version PC 161 might be a good choice too

@Atomrolf: But the pc350 has a microfone too.

What about 5.1? Sound quality is probably lower as compared with pure stereo headsets, but is it of use in games?

I was reading, you should better buy a simple microphone and stereo headphones bc all the pc-headsets aren't such hifi like simple music stereo headphones. Maybe this is bullshit, but I think about wireless headphones and a desktop microphone, which is allways better than the normal headset mics. Except MMX300 from Beyerdynamic. It takes only 300 bucks.  Cool

btw: 100 -130 € to pay for the pc350, then take the pc360. It has some features and a better bass (allways requested  Cool) http://www.amazon.de/dp/B003DA4D2U/ref=asc_df_B003DA4D2U1813053?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&tag=googledeprodu-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22494&creativeASIN=B003DA4D2U

I didn't order yet, since I'll also get a mouse. and have to ask if somebody still wants to order win7 (share shipping costs from Germany...).

I've read that the pc350 accustically completely isolates you from the outside by a strong pressure combined with a synthetic material that cracks soon & makes you 'hot ears'. Don't know how comfortable that is gonna be at 30°C,+.

I will take a look at the echo coming from pc360 owners, or take in consideration to go for a multimedia headphone (without micro).

I have Sennheiser earphones as well, they have brilliant sound and are very comfortable, but unfortunately, the material on the outside does really crack after some time :S (in my case: 2 years).
Nevertheless it's still working.

I wanna a new headset for my birthday, but Sennheiser pc350 (or 360) costs 600-700 shekels here =\  that's around 130-140 euro. Bullshit. I also want some money for my notebook too!

@ Fox: Are you talking about 'made in Germany' when you mention wireless headphones -> bayerdynamic, RSX 700, 99€?
I'd prefer not to recharge/change batteries every 2nd day. + I don't mind wired periphery if used solely on the desk anyways.
sharkoon
My defect headset was branded like that.
That surely doesn't mean that all of their products are the same, though.

Heya Vegas,

I was talking about such stuff, but more Sony, Philipps or other brands like this. But I've search for the beyerdynamics, which is the apparently best brand if you wont spend 500€ and more, and I found some issues and therefore I'll grab huge (open?) wired stereo headphones and a simple mic as deskstand. ;-)

I think, if I didn't has to be connected while going 4 a rhum to the kitchen, I don't have to use a system with headphones and mic in one device too, esp. if the most of them has a rly bad quality compared with simple HiFi-Headphones for the same price.  Cool

Infact the quality of headsets is a major issue, bc I was reading in some forums many complains about sharkoon, medusa, roccat etc. If you dunnot spend 150€ (Sennheiser PC360) or 300 (Beyerdynamics MMX 300), nothing can beat the combo of HiFi-HP + desk mic...

Looks like the 'audiophile' headphones (e.g.80€ from Pioneer) all lack the volume controllers on the wire. Even in-ear buds for the mp3player have that... Guess the pc360 / siberia v2 would be the better choise for my needs.

I have the remaining components (mouse, raid controller, some additional ram for 64bit, [...]),going to order next week.
