Tutorial: UT3 camera export to 3D animation software

Instructions are attached to this post in form of a PDF.
Demonstrates fist steps with exported 3D projects for Cinema4D and Blender.
UT3 RypelCam 3.12 or above is required.

Blender: http://www.blender.org/
Maxon Cinema4D: http://www.maxon.net/

Exported UT3 maps attached to this post:

WAR-Torlan.wrl
WAR-OnyxCoast.wrl
vCTF-Skyscraper-NightFire-SE.wrl
VCTF-Shoebox.stl
VCTF-Sandstorm.c4d
VCTF-Necropolis.wrl
VCTF-Megastructure_SE.wrl
VCTF-Kargo.wrl

DM-Sentinel.wrl
DM-HeatRay.wrl
DM-Deck-FPS.wrl
DM-Cheops-UT3-SE.stl
DM-Bonescraper.stl

Expect a few errors, .fbx export from UDK of 2012 is not 100% accurate, but far better than the UT3 Editor.

Maybe you can show me a video with the 3D export in RCam  whistle

After you record a video, you'd get the possibility to import it along with the coordinates of your viewpoint (first person, free cam or cam path) into a 3d animation software like 3dsmax, blender etc. Than you could add objects, like lucky's bullet effect (but with real perspective, not just a locked view and a manually animated bullet) or a 3d text like in this example video (couter strike):

work in progress, the X/Y/Z axis in ut3 are set to X/Z/Y in some applications, some modifications are required here.

The development version of the UT3 RCam supports 3D data export for the animation software Cinema4D. Blender is up next before the next RCam will be released.  smiley-ok.gif

Seriously wtf man? This looks pretty neat, although I have no idea how to work with cinema4d or similar  wink2.gif

Hey Mister Vega,

I think that 3D is not good because your eyes are busy after 10 minutes ...
What is the difference between the 3d & 4d Huh?
When for the 5d...  xxxlaugh.gif

btw i did some rypelcam actions with the version 3.12, i like this version but there are not enough campoints  Grin 122 is too short for me.
I always push F4 (save) after 100 campoints cauz i always crash after the 115 campoints... but i think it's normal with me lol  Grin

Hey Mister Devil,

the 4th dimension is time and the fifth is music. But who am I to tell YOU about the secret ingredients of a good frag movie?

Y U NO like the 3D export in RCam?

It's NOT the 'watch in 3D' from youtube, 3D-tv or cinema block busters!
So don't worry about your eyes or having to wear shutter glasses or similar.

The 3D export in RCam allows to export the UT3 camera and use it in 3D capable software (blender, C4D, aftereffects etc). Here you can look at some projects made with C4D: http://www.youtube.com/user/MaxonC4D/videos

RCam needs to calculate quite a lot to draw a camera path.
Newer Unreal Engine games do not crash anymore (for example the RO2 RCam), but Epic won't port UT3 to a newer Engine.

Updated the first post in the topic with all relevant data.

UT3 maps for Blender and C4D were added. Blender may have memory problems when opening larger maps. Maps come with terrain, brushes and static meshes (objects), but without textures. For example:

Added the map vCTF Sandstorm to the C4D downloads in the first post.

Use RypelCam 3.16 and above for increased accuracy of the exported UT3 camera. The native point of view functions in UT3 lag and require a buffer to refresh to the real point of view.
