Hallo!

I'm sorry it's in german, but it's important ^^

Piraten Partei supports Petition for free access to scientific transactions (in Germany), it fastens up development rate, that will allow for Germany to stay in first rows of progress. It will also reduce money waste on "Fachzeitschriften" - erm...smth like "specialized magazine" from universities, it was almost 220 millions euro in 2008!
More information here: >click<

You need to register on site of >Bustestag Petitionen< and support the >Petition< - we need 50000 people till December 22, in 1 day we have already reached more, than 3500 people. I have already voted, and you?

Let's finally do something good!  Rock

PS. Klarmachen zum Ändern!

Pretty expensive, ever thought about that? You know how much a scientific mag costs a year per person?

It sounds like the wannabe chancellor of Germany, Horst Schlämmer, da weisse Bescheid? Minimum wages since birth for everyone... lets say 2500€? Hurray! (?)

220 millions / 82 millions = ~2.7 euro?

I wouldn't have expected such a communist attitude... but well, you're talking about Germany spending money, not Israel. So never mind, you're no communist for sure than.
PS: The part with the 220millions in your calculation... failed. Some more German lessions could help at this point.

I dont know about your scientific papers, but normally a magazine must pay salaries to their editors who have a big time working on summarizing scientific results and making them easy to read to the public. If you are from the certain area of study and looking for a special study or as matters stand in this department, you can easily find the study yourself on the internet, just need some time and capability of understanding the study. So, paying for the work the editors do is for sure legit. A cook also gets more money for his meals than the ingredients of it would cost.

Or did I get something wrong?

Also number of supporters already raised up to 5784. You decide whatever you want to sign petition or not, i'm not going to argue here more, as far as from my experience, in all arguments here no one ever supported me.

WTF is this all about? No, I mean this is really the wrong forums to rally your supporters fro whatever thing you're supporting outside UT.

If anything, you'd better help out Peter Sunde and those guys running The Pirate Bay. Tongue

I dont get why some people are so critical on this topic  Smiley
The petition is only about the free publication of results, protocols and solutions from the scientific research in germany which were financed by the public budget already. Its about making it accesseble to anyone.
professional magacines can and will still exist to make articles about that easier for reading and keeping only the most interessting things. I will sign when i find my account-data ^^
