For some xplanation about what's funny in that joke if you're not familiar with Finnish sauna culture: The Finnish guy uses a vihta (or vasta in our side of Finland), a bunch of birch leaves to whip the other guys. Using the vihta is a normal thing during summer sauna, though you only do it to yourself. Normally during the summer people also go swimming during a sauna, if they're close to water that is. During winter this is of course not possible, so some people might go "snowswimming". It's supposed to be refreshing. XD (personally I've done this only once)

Yes we do that too.  Though I haven't done it myself, I like my water warm.  It's supposed to be good for your health though, improving blood circulation or something like that.
